Data Engineer - Banking Legacy System Migration Project
Salary: $5,000 – $7,500 per month
About the role
We are looking for a Data Migration Analyst / Data Engineer to support a 6-month banking data migration project. The project involves migrating existing tables, datasets and reports from legacy data marts and manual data sources into new enterprise data marts. This is a good opportunity for Junior Data Engineers, Data Analysts, ETL Developers or candidates with strong academic/project exposure in data engineering who want hands-on experience working on a large-scale banking data migration programme.
Key responsibilities
Analyse existing datasets, reports, SQL scripts and data processing logic.
Understand legacy data sources, business rules and data dependencies.
Perform source-to-target data mapping from legacy systems to new data marts.
Redevelop SQL scripts, datasets and reporting processes using the new data sources.
Perform data extraction, transformation and migration activities.
Reconcile and validate data between legacy and new data marts.
Investigate data discrepancies and support testing/UAT.
Document data mappings, lineage, transformation logic, metadata and data dictionaries.
Support automation and scheduling of data processing workflows.
About you
SQL
Data analysis / data manipulation
Basic understanding of ETL, data warehousing or data migration
Ability to work with large datasets
Good to have: Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, Impala, Hue, Oozie, Python, SAS
Suitable background: Data Engineering, ETL Development, Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Database / SQL Development, Data Migration, Reporting / BI, Computer Science / Data Engineering academic projects
Candidates with strong SQL and data engineering fundamentals who are looking to gain practical enterprise or banking project exposure may also be considered.
