Data Engineer – Big Data & Lakehouse
Summary
Data engineer at OBSS, Turkey's largest technology consultancy, building and operating big data lakehouse platforms for clients. Day to day: developing Spark/SQL data pipelines, orchestrating workflows with Airflow, and monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the platform stack (Iceberg, Trino, S3-compatible storage) in containerized Linux environments.

Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, big data, or data platform operations
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark, SQL, and data pipeline development
- Experience with workflow orchestration and operational support, preferably Apache Airflow
- Working knowledge of data lake/lakehouse architectures and technologies such as Iceberg, Trino, and S3-compatible object storage
- Experience with JupyterHub and at least one BI or database access tool such as Superset or CloudBeaver
- Experience in monitoring data workflows, analyzing logs, troubleshooting failures, and resolving performance issues
- Familiarity with Linux environments and container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
- Experience supporting application installation, configuration, version upgrades, and maintenance activities
- Ability to collaborate with architects and DevOps teams on platform integration, deployment, and production readiness
- Experience creating operational documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, ownership, and teamwork skills
- Good command of written and spoken English.
