Data Engineer
Summary
Designs, builds, and maintains ETL pipelines using Talend and Oracle SQL for a UK government data programme, while supporting CI/CD pipelines and security-compliant delivery.
Salary: £46,000 - 74,000 per year
Requirements:- We require candidates to be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance and able to complete BPSS checks.
- We prefer candidates with active SC clearance.
- We are looking for experienced Data Engineers.
- We need strong, hands-on Talend experience.
- We require proven experience working with Oracle databases, ideally Oracle RDS.
- We require strong SQL skills and an understanding of data modelling.
- We require experience working within structured SDLC and software testing frameworks.
- We require familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices, particularly GitLab.
- We require experience working in enterprise-scale environments.
- Desirable: experience within UK public sector or government environments.
- Desirable: previous experience working on large-scale data exploitation or transformation programmes.
- Desirable: experience supporting secure or highly governed delivery environments.
- We design, develop and maintain ETL solutions using Talend.
- We develop and maintain Oracle SQL and DDL artefacts.
- We contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and enhancements, particularly using GitLab.
- We investigate, troubleshoot and resolve defects across development and testing environments.
- We conduct component testing, including the creation and management of test data.
- We support QA, performance testing and production releases.
- We carry out peer reviews of development and testing artefacts.
- We provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- We participate in Agile ceremonies and support effective cross-team collaboration.
