Role Overview

Join a Tier 1 major bank as an AWS Data Engineer (Junior–Mid Level), supporting the build and operation of scalable data platforms on AWS.

You’ll work with Python, PySpark and AWS Glue to deliver reliable, production-grade data pipelines within a strong engineering-led environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2–5 years’ experience looking to grow their cloud data engineering capability in a large enterprise setting.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data pipelines using Python and PySpark.
  • Develop and support workflows in AWS Glue and Airflow.
  • Write clean, testable and maintainable code.
  • Implement data quality and testing controls.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data jobs.
  • Support CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Collaborate with product, platform and QA teams.

Mandatory Skills

  • Commercial experience with Python
  • Hands-on AWS experience (ideally AWS Glue)
  • Understanding of core data engineering concepts

Experience & Capability

  • 2–5 years’ experience in data or software engineering
  • Experience building or supporting cloud-based data pipelines
  • Exposure to CI/CD and version control
  • Understanding of production support and monitoring
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Redshift, Athena, EMR or Iceberg
  • Experience with Airflow
  • API or event-driven integration experience
