The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to help build and mature this capability using a Group-managed Databricks platform. This is a greenfield opportunity with genuine scope to influence how CPP connects, governs and uses data across the business.

You will take ownership of CPP’s data engineering delivery, developing reliable pipelines, curated datasets and data-quality controls. Working across systems including IFS Cloud, InEight, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Dynamics CRM, you will transform source data into governed, reusable data products for Power BI and other analytics uses.

The role combines hands-on engineering with business engagement. You will work closely with CPP’s Data & Analytics team, business stakeholders, Group IT and platform specialists to validate requirements, resolve data-quality challenges and deliver practical, maintainable solutions.

This is an opportunity to shape a long-term data capability, gain exposure to business-critical reporting priorities and make a visible contribution during a broader period of transformation.

Key responsibilities:
• Design, build and maintain production data pipelines within Databricks.
• Develop batch, incremental, API and file-based ingestion solutions.
• Transform raw data into trusted, business-ready datasets.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring and data-quality controls.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and source-to-target mappings.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into practical solutions.
• Support governance, metadata, lineage and secure data access.
• Provide curated datasets for Power BI reporting and analytics.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Analytics or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience delivering production data engineering solutions.
• Data warehouse or modern cloud data platform experience, ideally Databricks.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with exposure to Spark or PySpark and Delta Lake.
• Experience with automated testing, data quality, monitoring, Git and CI/CD practices.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly.
• Experience with project-based industries such as construction, engineering, utilities or infrastructure will be highly regarded.
