Role Context
The Data Engineer - Cyber Security will design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms that collect, process, structure, and store large volumes of security and operational data in near real time. The role supports SOC teams, cyber forensics, threat intelligence, audit trails, investigations, and security reporting by ensuring reliable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics readiness across cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build real-time security event ingestion pipelines by integrating data from SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence, cloud security, endpoint, network, and operational monitoring platforms.
- Develop and maintain threat intelligence correlation engines to support SOC investigations, alert enrichment, incident detection, and advanced security analytics.
- Design and manage cyber data lake architecture for digital forensics, audit trails, compliance evidence, and long-term security event retention.
- Collect, process, normalize, and store high-volume security and operational data in near real time for investigation and reporting use cases.
- Build reliable data pipelines that support analytics, dashboards, incident response, cyber risk reporting, and security operations decision-making.
- Ensure security data is well-structured, searchable, traceable, and ready for audit, compliance, investigation, and forensic analysis.
- Work with SOC analysts, cyber security architects, cloud engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and integration priorities.
- Optimize data pipeline performance, scalability, reliability, and monitoring for business-critical security data workloads.
- Implement data quality checks, metadata standards, access controls, retention rules, and governance practices for cyber security datasets.
- Support cloud-based data engineering activities using modern platforms, distributed processing tools, and scalable storage solutions.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for data flows, pipeline logic, source systems, schemas, security controls, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot ingestion failures, data latency issues, transformation errors, and platform performance problems across security data environments.
Ideal Profile
- 8-10 years of experience in data engineering, cloud data platforms, large-scale data pipelines, or security data platform engineering.
- Strong hands‑on experience building real-time or near real-time data ingestion pipelines for high-volume, business-critical systems.
- Practical knowledge of SIEM and SOAR platform integration, SOC data flows, security event formats, and cyber operations requirements.
- Experience designing data lake or lakehouse architecture for analytics, audit trails, investigations, and long‑term event storage.
- Strong understanding of threat intelligence correlation, event enrichment, cyber analytics, and security reporting requirements.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, scalable storage, distributed processing, ETL or ELT frameworks, and data pipeline orchestration.
- Ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured security data from multiple sources.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage complex data engineering requirements in a cyber security environment.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate certification is preferred.
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with SOC, cyber security, data, and infrastructure teams.
