Data Engineer - Databricks
Salary: $115,000 – $145,000 + 4% KS, EAP, Xtra Leave

This large-scale initiative spans regulatory operations, procedural design, core system implementations, data, and emerging AI technologies.
We are seeking adaptable Data Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments. This positions a suit proactive self-starter who can seamlessly bridge the gap between complex data architectures, platform engineering, and operational reporting without requiring heavy guidance.
Key Technical & Core Requirements:
End-to-End Data Pipeline Engineering: Demonstrated capability leading the design, construction, and deployment of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to acquire, transform, and integrate raw data from diverse sources into high-performing data structures.
Cloud Platform & Warehousing: Solid experience with modern Azure data services (Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, DBMS) and hands-on expertise building scalable architectures in Databricks / Azure Databricks to support BI and advanced analytics.
Tooling & Code Mastery: Proficiency in Python (PySpark/SQL) and R, paired with practical application of data modeling, master data management, and software engineering best practices.
Data Governance & Quality: Experience implementing data quality checking and remediation, metadata management, and strict security and compliance controls to safeguard sensitive regulatory data.
Delivery Standards: Ability to operate within established group frameworks, applying standardised data management solutions, automated pipelines, and information handling procedures to support long-term transformation goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional facilitation and communication skills (written and plain language), capable of collaborating across digital teams, business system owners, and external government functional leads to enable secure data sharing and reporting.
Role Details & Work Environment:
Contract: 1-Year Fixed-Term (with high potential for future extension).
Location: Prime Central Wellington location right next to the train station.
Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid model with 2 days working from home per week.
