Data Engineer

White Circle is an AI safety company that develops a platform for the safety, reliability, and optimization of AI systems. The organization utilizes natural-language policies to automatically test, enforce, and improve AI model behavior at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reliable production data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration
- Model and structure data in the warehouse to ensure it is clean, documented, and useful for engineering, product, and research teams
- Own data infrastructure, including schema design, migrations, performance, and cost management
- Provide data support to GTM engineers by delivering curated, enriched company and account data
- Integrate and route diverse data sources into the warehouse, including internal product events and third-party feeds
- Build data‑extraction jobs and web scraping as needed
- Improve data quality, observability, and documentation
- Diagnose and resolve pipeline issues
- Execute data and infrastructure tasks to enhance system robustness
Requirements
- Solid experience as a data engineer building and running production pipelines and data warehouses
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
- Experience designing data models for collaborative use
- Hands‑on experience with a modern data stack, including relational databases, columnar/analytics stores, orchestration, and transformation tools
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar systems
- Production mindset with a focus on reliability, migrations, performance, and cost
- Ability to work independently and own problems end‑to‑end in an early‑stage environment
- Fluent English
- Nice to have: Experience with streaming/eventing (e.g., Kafka)
- Nice to have: Dataset versioning

- Nice to have: Modern ETL tools (Fivetran, Airbyte, dlt)
