Data Engineer

Data Engineer – Azure & Databricks Wellington | 2–3 Month Contract | Immediate Start

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer for an initial 2–3 month contract, supporting a data modernisation programme moving an established legacy environment onto a global Azure and Databricks platform.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can quickly get across the existing environment and contribute to the migration of data, pipelines and integrations into the new cloud platform.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting the migration of existing data workloads into Azure using Databricks
• Working across legacy SQL Server environments and modern cloud technologies
• Developing and migrating data pipelines and integrations
• Working with existing integration services and ETL processes
• Troubleshooting migration and data integration issues
• Helping ensure data quality, reliability and performance throughout the transition
• Working closely with technical teams to keep the migration moving at pace

What we're looking for:

• Strong hands-on Databricks experience
• Solid Microsoft Azure data engineering experience
• Strong SQL Server / SQL capability
• Experience with integration services, ETL and data pipelines
• Experience migrating data from legacy/on-premise environments into Azure
• Exposure to older Microsoft technologies, ideally SQL Server 2016
• Previous experience working on data migration or platform modernisation programmes
• Ability to hit the ground running in a short-term contract environment

This would suit an experienced Data Engineer who is comfortable bridging legacy Microsoft data technologies with modern Azure and Databricks environments and is available to contribute immediately.
