Data Engineer (Fulfillment)

Overview

The Data Engineering department at Tesco Technology leads data processing for the retail and technology industry. The team handles analyzing order and delivery data, managing critical data for customer orders, suppliers, and products, and ensuring data integrity and security.

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to expand and refine our data pipeline architecture, optimize data flow, and support cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non‑functional business requirements.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes and redesigning infrastructure for scalability.
  • Build the infrastructure for extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Develop analytics tools using the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business metrics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including executive product data and design teams, to assist with data‑related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Ensure data is separated and secure.
  • Create data tools for analytics and data science teams to support product innovation.
  • Work with data and analytics experts to enhance functionality of data systems.

Qualifications

Mandatory Skills

  • Apache Spark with Scala or Python.
  • Apache HDFS, Ceph S3 or equivalent cloud storage.
  • Apache YARN or equivalent cloud resource manager.
  • Lakehouse tools such as Apache Hive/Kyuubi or alternatives.
  • Workflow scheduler such as Airflow or alternatives.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Functional programming.
  • Apache Kafka.
  • Kubernetes.
  • Stream processing.
  • CI/CD.

Location and Working Arrangements

Position based in or near Kraków. Employees will spend approximately 60% (3 days) of the week collaborating in the office or local sites, with the remainder remote.

Salary: 20 000 – 26 000 PLN gross per month.
