Data Engineer

Summary

Builds and maintains data pipelines, databases, and reporting systems across on-premises and cloud environments, focusing on SQL Server/Oracle, Snowflake migration, and modernizing legacy data models with Azure tools.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY


We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a Data Intelligence team, working across on-premises and cloud data environments and contributing to an ongoing migration to Snowflake.

This role combines strong SQL and database engineering expertise with data integration, modelling and platform management. You will work with SQL Server and Oracle environments, Microsoft BI technologies and Azure services, while helping modernise existing data models and reporting solutions.

Hybrid 3 times per week in the office.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, develop and maintain data solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Work extensively with SQL Server and Oracle databases, using SQL for data querying, transformation and management.
  • Develop and maintain ETL and integration processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory.
  • Support the migration of existing data workloads and models to Snowflake, working alongside external specialists involved in the migration.
  • Manage and optimise relational databases, including table creation, indexing, queries and database structures.
  • Design and maintain relational data models that support reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Work with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and existing Report Server environments.
  • Support and maintain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) solutions and existing analytical models.
  • Contribute to the modernisation of legacy analytical solutions, including the transition from traditional cubes and Excel-based processes towards more agile Power BI data models.
  • Identify and address limitations in existing SQL, Excel and legacy reporting processes.
  • Work with Azure Blob Storage and Azure Function Apps as part of cloud-based data solutions.
  • Apply DevOps practices to database and data-platform management, including controlled changes to tables and related structures.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI professionals, external partners and business stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.
  • Document data models, integrations, database structures and relevant technical processes.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Professional experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering or a similar data-focused role.
  • Proficient SQL knowledge is mandatory, with strong practical experience working with relational databases.
  • Solid experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • Experience designing and maintaining relational database structures, including tables, indexes and queries.
  • Good understanding of database performance and optimisation principles.
  • Experience with ETL and data integration processes.
  • Exposure to both on-premises and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Experience working with reporting and analytical data environments.
  • Ability to understand existing data models and redesign them for more modern and scalable reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners.
  • Comfortable working with autonomy and taking ownership of data and database solutions.
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments.
  • Relevant technical certifications are highly valued, particularly across Microsoft Azure, SQL Server and Snowflake technologies.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

Base salary range: EUR 22 000 - EUR 28 000 gross/year

Total compensation: up to EUR 34 000/year


The salary range is based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including required competencies, professional experience, level of responsibility and role requirements. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate's profile and position requirements.
