As a Data Engineer at Horizon Power, you'll help shape the future of how data is leveraged across the organisation. Working within our Digital & Data Transformation team, you'll build the trusted data foundations that enable reporting, analytics, operational insights and emerging AI capabilities that support regional communities across Western Australia.

This is an opportunity to work on meaningful challenges, connecting data from multiple systems and transforming it into scalable, reliable solutions that drive real business outcomes. You'll partner with stakeholders across the business, collaborate with BI Analysts and fellow engineers, and play a key role in evolving Horizon Power's modern data ecosystem.

Why Join Us?
This is more than a technical role.
You'll join a collaborative, close-knit team where you'll have the autonomy to make decisions, contribute ideas and engage directly with stakeholders across the business. You'll work with modern technologies, help influence our Data and AI journey, and contribute to projects that have a genuine impact on Western Australia's energy future.

We're looking for someone who's naturally curious, enjoys solving complex problems and stays ahead of emerging technology trends. In return, you'll be trusted to own outcomes, drive improvements and make your mark.

What You’ll Do:

  • Designing and delivering data solutions that create trusted, business-ready information.

  • Building and enhancing data pipelines that support reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.

  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to understand challenges and deliver practical solutions.

  • Contributing to the ongoing evolution of Horizon Power's data platforms and capabilities.

  • Working across both project delivery and operational support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Driving continuous improvement through innovation, automation and best-practice engineering approaches.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience delivering data engineering solutions and building scalable data pipelines.

  • Strong skills in SQL, Python and modern cloud-based data platforms.

  • Experience working with technologies such as Snowflake, Power BI and contemporary data architectures.

  • Experience designing and supporting real-time and event-driven data integration solutions using data streaming platforms such as Confluent Kafka.

  • Hands-on experience with data ingestion and change data capture (CDC) technologies, including tools such as BryteFlow, Upsolver or similar modern data integration platforms.

  • Knowledge of batch and streaming data patterns, data synchronisation, and integrating enterprise systems into cloud-based analytical platforms.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical solutions.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, remain calm under pressure and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
