Data Engineer II

Summary

Designs and builds production-grade data pipelines and dimensional models in Snowflake/Redshift, enforcing data quality and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of Data to translate platform vision into engineering execution
  • Lead the design and implementation of Kimball-style dimensional models and star schema architectures
  • Own and enforce data hygiene standards across the platform
  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade data pipelines
  • Develop and champion best practices for data modeling, transformation, and testing
  • Drive the extraction and codification of business logic into cloud-agnostic layers
  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to ensure data models meet reporting needs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Data Engineer I team members
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and design reviews

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Deep expertise in dimensional modeling (Kimball methodology, star/snowflake schema)
  • Experience leading data warehouse migrations or platform modernization
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL and Python
  • Strong command of dbt (custom tests, macros, packages)
  • Hands‑on experience with Snowflake and Redshift
  • Systematic approach to data quality and hygiene frameworks
  • Ability to operate with autonomy in ambiguous spaces
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
