Summary

The Data Engineer will improve data quality and reliability on the enterprise data platform by building observability, automated validation, and managing SLAs/SLOs, primarily using Azure, SQL, Python and related cloud tools.

Salary: £50,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Excellent SQL and Python skills
  • Experience working in modern cloud-based data environments
  • Hands-on experience with data observability tools such as Grafana, Monte Carlo, or Acceldata is highly desirable
  • Experience with data governance and quality platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, or Microsoft Purview is highly desirable
  • Experience within the Azure ecosystem, including data lakes and ETL/ELT pipelines, is a strong advantage
  • Experience building automated data validation frameworks
  • Experience defining and managing SLAs and SLOs
  • Experience working with distributed data architectures
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code is beneficial
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach
Responsibilities:
  • Improve data quality and reduce incidents across our enterprise data platform
  • Build scalable observability across modern data systems
  • Ensure data across the organisation is accurate, reliable, and trusted for business decision-making
  • Take ownership of data reliability end-to-end
  • Design and implement frameworks that monitor data health, detect anomalies, and enforce standards across complex data pipelines and platforms
  • Work across our Data Engineering and Data Governance teams to support a proactive, reliability-led approach
  • Define and manage data SLAs and SLOs
  • Implement automated validation and observability tooling
  • Lead root cause analysis when issues occur
