Data Engineer (Manager)

Summary

Design and maintain ETL pipelines and data warehouses for a bank, ensuring robust data integration and compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Batch Job Design, develop, test, and implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines to integrate data from diverse banking data warehouse system
  • Support complex data extraction requests for Finance and Risk Analytic aspect anddata management activities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, automate routine , monitor production job schedules, and perform troubleshooting/root-cause analysis on data pipeline failures forcompliance and financial systems
  • Write and maintain the programs for job automation, file transfers, and system maintenance tasks
  • Prepare technical specifications, system design documents, data dictionaries, and ensure all data management practices comply with internal bank data governance and security policies
  • Act as a technical mentor to junior developers, providing guidance on coding standards, ETL best practices, and banking data models

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 6–8 years of solid experience in data warehousing, ETL development, or data analytics, preferably within the banking or financial services industry
  • Experiencein compliance and financial system
  • Deep understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and data modeling
    • Solid understanding of core ETL tools and data integration concepts (e.g., Informatica, DataStage, or similar)
    • Strong proficiency in SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, indexing) across major databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
    • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
    • Hands‑on experience with SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) and python for data manipulation and analysis , would be an advantage
    • Highly self‑motivated and capable of managing tasks with minimal supervision and able to work independently and under pressure
    • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical teams and business stakeholders
    • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua
    • Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Assistant Manager
