Data Engineer (Manager)
Summary
Design and maintain ETL pipelines and data warehouses for a bank, ensuring robust data integration and compliance with financial regulations.
Responsibilities
- Batch Job Design, develop, test, and implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines to integrate data from diverse banking data warehouse system
- Support complex data extraction requests for Finance and Risk Analytic aspect anddata management activities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, automate routine , monitor production job schedules, and perform troubleshooting/root-cause analysis on data pipeline failures forcompliance and financial systems
- Write and maintain the programs for job automation, file transfers, and system maintenance tasks
- Prepare technical specifications, system design documents, data dictionaries, and ensure all data management practices comply with internal bank data governance and security policies
- Act as a technical mentor to junior developers, providing guidance on coding standards, ETL best practices, and banking data models
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- 6–8 years of solid experience in data warehousing, ETL development, or data analytics, preferably within the banking or financial services industry
- Experiencein compliance and financial system
- Deep understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and data modeling
- Solid understanding of core ETL tools and data integration concepts (e.g., Informatica, DataStage, or similar)
- Strong proficiency in SQL (complex queries, performance tuning, indexing) across major databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
- Hands‑on experience with SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) and python for data manipulation and analysis , would be an advantage
- Highly self‑motivated and capable of managing tasks with minimal supervision and able to work independently and under pressure
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua
- Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Assistant Manager
