Data Engineer - MarTech

Summary

Data Engineer building data pipelines, models, and activation-ready data products that power CRM, personalization, and performance marketing at Telia, using SQL, Snowflake, dbt, and Python.

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer - MarTech to join the Data & Analytics team at Telia.

Are you an experienced data engineer who enjoys working close to the business and seeing your technical solutions create commercial impact? In this role, you will help build the data foundation that enables smarter customer communication, personalization, and performance marketing across Telia’s consumer business.

You will be part of a forward-looking Data & Analytics team that works closely with commercial stakeholders across CRM, marketing, sales, and customer value management. Our mission is to turn high-quality data into trusted insights, predictive models, and actionable customer experiences that support growth, retention, and better customer journeys.

This role has a special responsibility for the MarTech and CRM domain. You will work at the intersection of data platforms, marketing technology, and commercial use cases, translating business needs into reliable data products, scalable pipelines, and activation-ready customer data. Strong communication skills are important, as you will work closely with non-technical stakeholders and help connect business goals with scalable data solutions.

What you'll do:

As a Data Engineer - MarTech, you will design, develop, and improve the data structures, integrations, and pipelines that power customer communication, segmentation, personalization, and campaign measurement. You will work closely with CRM managers, performance marketing specialists, data scientists, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure that marketing and commercial teams have trusted, timely, and well-governed data available for activation and insight.

  • Build activation-ready data products: Design and develop reusable data products for customer profiles, lifecycle stages, consent, campaign interactions, audiences, and performance measurement.

  • Strengthen the MarTech data foundation: Build and maintain reliable data flows between our data platform, CRM solutions, marketing automation tools, web and app analytics platforms, and other relevant commercial systems.

  • Enable personalization and performance marketing: Make high-quality customer, event, and audience data available for segmentation, targeting, recommendations, churn prevention, upsell, and other commercial use cases.

  • Improve campaign measurement: Establish consistent definitions and trusted datasets for campaign performance, attribution, contact strategy, and customer journey analysis.

  • Ensure data quality and governance: Monitor data freshness, completeness, and accuracy, and help ensure privacy, consent, and GDPR requirements are embedded in how data is used.

  • Bridge business and technology: Communicate clearly with CRM, performance marketing, analytics, data science, and IT stakeholders, translating commercial needs into scalable technical solutions with measurable business impact.

What will help you thrive in this role

  • Experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or similar role, with strong SQL skills and practical experience building robust data models, pipelines, and transformations.

  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Python, or similar technologies.

  • Solid understanding of, or hands-on experience with, MarTech, CRM, marketing automation, customer data platforms, performance marketing, web/app analytics, or personalization use cases.

  • Knowledge of marketing automation and activation platforms such as Salesforce, Adobe, Braze, or similar tools is an advantage.

  • Ability to understand customer lifecycle data, campaign data, consent data, events, and audience logic, and turn this into reliable, reusable datasets.

  • Good understanding of data quality, documentation, lineage, monitoring, and governance principles.

  • Awareness of privacy and consent requirements, especially in relation to GDPR and responsible use of customer data.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to commercial stakeholders and understand the business value behind technical requirements.

  • Good understanding of commercial drivers such as customer growth, retention, upsell, campaign performance, and customer experience, and how data can help improve these outcomes.

  • A pragmatic, curious, and improvement-oriented mindset. You enjoy solving real business problems with robust technical solutions.
