Role Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated BI Engineer with strong expertise in Power BI and ideally in Microsoft Fabric to design, develop, and deliver high-quality business intelligence solutions that support operational, financial, risk, regulatory, and strategic decision-making.

The role will be responsible for developing new reporting capabilities within Microsoft Fabric, creating scalable semantic models, designing intuitive Power BI dashboards, and ensuring that reporting solutions are accurate, performant, secure, and governed. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and data governance teams to transform business requirements into enterprise-grade reporting products.

Role Responsibilities:

Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Build new reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric datasets and semantic models.
  • Create interactive visualisations and KPIs that support business and executive decision-making.
  • Translate business requirements into effective analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Develop self-service reporting capabilities for business users.

Fabric Development

  • Leverage Microsoft Fabric components including: OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Semantic Models, Real-Time Intelligence (where appropriate)
  • Consume and model curated data from Fabric Gold Layer datasets.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to ensure reporting datasets are optimised for analytics.
  • Support reporting automation and scheduled refresh processes.
  • Provide outofhours and oncall support for incidents impacting critical financial systems.

Data Modelling & Analytics

  • Design and maintain Power BI semantic models.
  • Create measures, calculated columns, hierarchies, and KPIs using DAX.
  • Apply dimensional modelling principles including: Star schemas, Fact and dimension design, Slowly Changing Dimensions
  • Improve reporting performance through effective data modelling techniques.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams.
  • Facilitate requirement gathering workshops.
  • Convert business requirements into functional reporting specifications.
  • Provide guidance on reporting best practices and data visualisation standards.

Governance & Data Quality

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise Data Governance standards.
  • Support lineage, metadata, and data quality initiatives.
  • Validate reporting outputs through reconciliation and testing processes.
  • Maintain documentation for reports, datasets, calculations, and business logic.
  • Ensure appropriate security and access controls are applied to reporting assets.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for reporting automation and process improvement.
  • Promote Power BI and Fabric best practices across the organisation.
  • Stay up to date with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI developments.
  • Contribute to the evolution of enterprise reporting standards and frameworks.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  • Experience creating and managing Power BI Semantic Models.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience developing KPIs, scorecards, and executive dashboards.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modelling principles.
  • Experience with data transformation and preparation.
  • Strong DAX development skills.
  • Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices for BI deployments.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a focus on strategic thinking.
  • Ability to balance technical expertise with business insight, ensuring data initiatives drive tangible value.
  • Proven delivery focus, with the ability to implement structured governance, define metrics, and track outcomes.
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to navigate a traditional environment and respond effectively to change.
  • High level of professional integrity and confidentiality, with a strong commitment to ethical data practices.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using Microsoft Fabric.
  • DP-600: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.
  • Knowledge of Finance, Risk, Treasury, or Regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform technologies.
  • Experience with Python or Spark.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Degree in an IT-related discipline (desirable)
  • Relevant certifications in database, cloud, security or technology risk are advantageous

Location and Contract Type:

This is a full-time, permanent position with an opportunity to work on a hybrid working model from our Bucharest office.
