Data Engineer MS Fabric

Posted Updated
Discussion

Summary

Data engineer at Kohera, a Belgian Microsoft data consultancy, building and modernising client data platforms on Microsoft Fabric — managing ETL/ELT pipelines, data integrations and Lakehouse/Data Warehouse solutions, often alongside Azure Data Factory, Power BI and Databricks, partly on-site at client sites across sectors.

We are wizards who turn data into knowledge. We execute E2E projects in team and work as consultants for various clients (and sectors) – partly on-site/partly from home – to assist them with Microsoft data solutions. Our credo is to empower every professional to make the best data-driven decision. Transforming data into usable knowledge is something you have right at your fingertips.

Your role as a Data Engineer MS Fabric

Within this role, you will contribute to data engineering activities in Microsoft Fabric environments, translating business requirements into structured and scalable data solutions and validating them with stakeholders.

  • Managing and customising ETL and ELT processes using Microsoft Fabric
  • Setting up and customising data integrations, data pipelines and data models
  • Supporting migrations from legacy data platforms, data warehouses or on-premise Microsoft environments towards Microsoft Fabric
  • Building and maintaining Lakehouse and Data Warehouse solutions
  • Ensuring data quality, performance and reliability across the data platform

You will primarily be using Microsoft Fabric to build, modernise and migrate data platforms, potentially in combination with other Microsoft services such as Azure Data Factory, Power BI and Databricks, depending on the customer environment.

Project-based or long-term assignments, all options are on the table. Depending on the assignment, you may be working on your own or in a team, taking care of the project management yourself or not. Participating in pre-sales is also a possibility. The trump cards of this job are variety and continuous learning through experience.

The roles within assignments and their complexity will be tailored to you: sufficiently challenging for learning and not over your head. If you demonstrate a keenness to learn, independence and initiative, you will be absolutely fine. Don’t forget that you have a team of helpful Koherians standing behind you who will be happy to help you and facilitate your development.

Experience and Technical skills

  • More than 3 years of experience in a Data Engineer or similar data role
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and a strong willingness to further develop your expertise in the platform
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and ETL/ELT development
  • Familiarity with Fabric components such as Data Factory, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse and OneLake
  • Experience with Python, Power BI, Azure or Databricks is a plus
  • An interest in AI and how it can be applied within modern data platforms

Languages

Fluency in Dutch and English is a must, and fluency in French would be a bonus.
