About the role:
Design, build and optimise data pipelines, platforms and models that support analytics and reporting across the enterprise. You’ll work with technical specialists, analysts and business teams to turn complex requirements into reliable, secure and scalable solutions.
The role combines hands-on data engineering with opportunities to improve data quality, platform performance and engineering practices. A collaborative, service-focused approach will be important when working across a broad range of stakeholders.
Role responsibilities:
- Build and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Databricks.
- Create well-structured data models and curated datasets for analytics and reporting.
- Contribute to cloud data lake and data warehouse solutions, including layered data architectures.
- Improve reliability through testing, monitoring, observability and performance tuning.
- Embed data quality, security, lineage and governance controls into delivered solutions.
- Work with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver outcomes and strengthen shared standards.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong SQL skills and proven experience delivering production data solutions.
- Experience with Databricks, or strong transferable experience from a comparable cloud data platform.
- Practical knowledge of ETL/ELT, data integration and pipeline orchestration.
- Sound data-modelling skills, including dimensional modelling, with an understanding of layered or medallion data architectures.
- Experience with Python or scripting, source control and CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of data quality, governance and security; experience with streaming, observability or data catalogue tools is advantageous.
