Data Engineer developing and maintaining SQL/SSIS ETL pipelines, data integrations, reports and batch jobs within a compliance-technology environment at a leading South African financial services organisation. Core stack: SQL Server, SSIS, ETL/ELT, data warehousing and query tuning.
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with strong SQL, SSIS and ETL expertise to join a Compliance Technology environment within a leading financial services organisation.
Key Responsible:
- Develop and enhance SQL scripts, queries and database logic to support business requirements.
- Develop, modify and maintain SSIS packages and ETL workflows.
- Perform data integration across multiple source systems.
- Optimise SQL queries, ETL processes and database performance.
- Support data modelling, schema enhancements and data transformation.
- Develop and enhance operational reports and dashboards.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation and data quality checks.
- Investigate and resolve data, ETL and production issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and support batch processes and scheduled jobs.
- Support SIT/UAT, deployments and production releases.
- Assist with data remediation, governance and compliance-related initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, process automation and optimisation.
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering / ETL / SQL development.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong SSIS development experience.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration.
- Experience with database performance tuning and query optimisation.Experience with data warehousing and data modelling.
- Experience troubleshooting production data and ETL issues.
- Experience working with SIT/UAT and production deployments.
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation and reconciliation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience within banking or financial services.
- Experience with AML / Compliance data platforms.
- Exposure to NICE Actimize.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Experience with Microsoft Purview and data governance.
- Exposure to regulatory reporting and data remediation.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD processes.
