Data Engineer
Summary
Build and optimize Python/SQL scripts to automate data workflows, integrate SAP systems, and streamline processes for Samsung Electronics in the Netherlands.
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer as a replacement to develop and optimize data solutions across SEBN.
The assignment is for six months, based at Samsung’s Schiphol location, and requires availability for 40 hours per week. Starting date is the 1st of September 2026.
Key focus areas
Core skills:
Python programming, SQL query optimization, VBScript and VBA automation, and advanced Excel expertise.
Primary duties:
Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to build scalable data scripts, automate repetitive processes, optimize workflows, integrate SAP systems and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Key requirements:
Proficiency in Python, SQL and scripting languages; the ability to identify and solve process inefficiencies; strong project management and documentation skills; and the ability to coordinate across onsite and offshore teams.
Experience
At least five years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer or Business Intelligence Engineer.
Key responsibilities:
- Python programming: Develop and maintain Python scripts for data manipulation, automation and problem-solving, ensuring efficient and scalable solutions.
- SQL expertise: Write and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis, supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Scripting and Excel automation: Use scripting languages such as VBScript and Visual Basic for Applications to automate repetitive tasks and enhance productivity. Leverage advanced Excel skills, including VBA, for data processing and reporting.
- SAP integration: Apply knowledge of SAP VBScript to integrate and automate processes within SAP environments, improving operational efficiency.
- Process optimization: Conduct process mapping to identify inefficiencies and develop solution-oriented strategies to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of solutions, project tasks and processes to ensure clarity, traceability and effective knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Python programming, with experience in data manipulation, automation and problem-solving.
- Strong understanding of SQL, with the ability to write and optimize queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
- Skilled in scripting languages such as VBScript and Visual Basic for Applications, with advanced proficiency in Excel and VBA for automation.
- Familiarity with SAP VBScript is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to map processes, identify inefficiencies and develop effective solutions to optimize workflows.
- Commitment to meticulous documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Ability to coordinate across onsite and offshore teams.
Preferred skills:
- Experience integrating Python, SQL and VBA scripts into end-to-end automation solutions.
- Familiarity with SAP environments and VBScript for seamless integration and automation.
