Data Engineer
Location: Newcastle Working pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Please note: This role requires eligibility for BPSS and SC Security Clearance, including 5 years’ continuous UK residency.
The Role We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing technology team delivering cloud and data solutions across a range of complex projects. You’ll design and build scalable data pipelines, work with modern cloud technologies, and collaborate with engineers, analysts and product teams to deliver high-quality data solutions that support analytics and AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines
- Develop real-time and batch data processing solutions
- Work with AWS cloud services and modern data technologies
- Support CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Collaborate within Agile teams and contribute to engineering best practices
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ commercial experience in Data Engineering
- Strong Java or Python development skills
- Experience with Kafka, Flink or Spark
- Experience building ETL/ELT or streaming data pipelines
- Knowledge of AWS (Azure or GCP also considered)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD tools
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform Desirable
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or working in a consulting environment
