Summary
Hands-on data engineer in Barcelona building the datalake, canonical data model, and ETL pipelines for OCCam, SITA's AI-powered airline Operations Control Center. Daily work centers on ingesting heterogeneous airline systems (Python, SQL, Airflow, AWS), ensuring data quality, and onboarding multiple airlines in parallel.
In this role you accelerate airline onboarding by turning diverse source data into trusted data for OCCam, SITA’s AI-powered Operations Control Center. You will build a unified datalake and a canonical data model used by product, backend, and science teams, ensuring data quality and clear data provenance. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver reliable data for onboarding multiple airlines and documenting assumptions. This is a hands-on, cross-functional engineering role with meaningful impact on disruption management in global aviation.

- Ingest heterogeneous airline systems and external sources into OCCam's data platform
- Build a common datalake and canonical data model consumed by the product
- Own data quality at the pipeline level with checks, reconciliation, and issue investigation
- Partner with Back-End and Science teams to base features and algorithms on reliable data
- Work on several airline integrations in parallel to accelerate onboarding and maintain documentation
- Map source schemas to a canonical data dictionary and document assumptions
- Proficient in Python and SQL across PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
- Hands-on experience with Airflow and ETL/ELT design
- Understanding of datalakes, data modeling, and canonical data model design
- Experience with MSSQL linked servers, schema mapping and source-system reverse engineering
- Familiarity with AWS data services and data-quality frameworks
- Understanding of airline operational data or ability to quickly acquire domain knowledge
- Structured problem-solving for messy data and capability to collaborate in client-facing onboarding
- Strong documentation discipline and a data-trust mindset
- Awareness of GDPR and client data-privacy requirements
