Data Engineer - Snowflake (4 Positions Available)

Salary: AUD 950 - 1050 per day, Strategic Data Program

ABOUT THE ROLE
A leading Australian university is launching a strategic data transformation program (Digital Sydney) targeting 2032. We're recruiting 4 Data Engineers to build and support Phase 1 of the HR data stream - designing and implementing ingestion pipelines, transformations, and governed data exposure on Snowflake/AWS.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and build Talend ingestion pipelines + downstream SQL/Python transformations
• Follow established architectural patterns and frameworks (rapid delivery focus)
• Collaborate on code review, design validation and testing with the team
• Optimize Snowflake performance, manage data governance (tagging, RBAC, lineage)
• Document code, pipelines and architectural decisions for handoff
• Support phase transitions and capability-building within the team

We're hiring for 4 specialiSations:

• 1x Data Modeling: Schema design, dimensional/relational modeling, Erwin, normalization trade-offs
• 2x Full Pipeline Build: End-to-end ingestion→exposure, rapid delivery, framework adherence
• 1x Security & Governance: RBAC, masking, tagging, audit, compliance

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Must-Have Experience (All 4):

• More than 5 years data engineering on modern platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar)
• Hands-on AWS + Snowflake delivery - built and shipped pipelines
• ETL/data pipeline coding (Python, SQL, or Scala) - comfortable debugging and optimizing
• Ability to follow architectural guardrails - delivery-focused, not reinventing per project

Nice-to-Have:

• Talend, Informatica, or iPaaS experience
• Data governance / compliance background
• University or HR systems knowledge
