What would a summer surrounded by the data flows of Finland’s most popular online store sound like? As you might imagine, an iconic e-commerce company generates vast amounts of data. Your challenge this summer will be to build reliable solutions that move and transform this data into the right format. In a nutshell: Your summer job as a Data Engineer

Your main responsibility will be developing and maintaining data integrations using Dagster and Python. You will ensure that data moves reliably from source systems to the data warehouse. You will also work on basic-level data modeling with dbt to transform raw data into clear and usable models. In addition, your role will include a variety of early-career specialist tasks, such as documenting data and refactoring and improving the existing codebase. During onboarding, you will also receive the training needed to maintain the QlikSense system while your more experienced colleagues are on vacation. No prior experience with QlikSense is required.

At Verkkis, you will join a six-person data and analytics team responsible for ensuring that data is high-quality and easily accessible. With skilled teammates supporting you, you won’t be left alone in your role and will definitely have the opportunity to sharpen your technical skills using a modern data stack. The summer position runs by agreement between May 1 and September 30, 2026. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, and after onboarding, you may work remotely part of the time if you wish. Our office is located in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, where we meet at least twice a week. The salary range for the position is €2,900–3,600 per month, with final compensation based on your experience and skills.

Would the Data Engineer role suit you?

You will succeed in this role if you have a strong desire to understand how data moves between systems and how it is structured into logical entities. You have an analytical mindset and enjoy solving technical problems. This position is well suited for a student in the final stages of studies in computer science or information systems, or for a recent graduate. In addition to Finnish, you will need fluent English skills in your work.

In the interview selection process, we primarily value demonstrated skills. Rather than focusing on your CV or grades, we are more interested in what you have accomplished. Therefore, we ask that you include a link to your GitHub project or portfolio in your application so that we can review your code and your approach to problem-solving.

Required skill set
