WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Data Ingestion and Pipeline Operations

• Design, scale and operate Kafka BigQuery ingestion pipelines
• Monitor existing pipelines and step in when failures occur
• Add and develop new data sources and connectors
• Build and improve SQL pipelines

Data Modeling and Transformation

• Take an active role in data modeling and transformation across the raw staging mart layers, in both stage and prod environments

Data Quality and Observability

• Develop data quality tests and set up monitoring and alerting systems

Cost Management

• Monitor and optimize GCP and other costs

Infrastructure

• Take an active role in infrastructure setup and decisions, and build improvements as needs arise

Self-Service BI and Metric Standards

• Provide standards, documentation and training so product teams can do self-service BI
• Work with analysts and data scientists to standardize metric definitions
• Prepare documentation and training for product teams

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 4+ years of data engineering experience
• Production experience with GCP/BigQuery
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and streaming architectures
• Advanced SQL, SQLX and Python skills
• Experience with Airflow/Composer and/or dbt
• Experience with dimensional modeling and event data modeling
• Hands-on with data quality and observability practices
