Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering / Data Integration.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of Pentaho, Talend, or Denodo.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience designing and developing ETL/data integration pipelines.
- Good understanding of data modelling and database technologies.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience with multiple technologies from Pentaho, Talend, Denodo, and SAS is desirable.

- Experience with automated testing and deployment is desirable.
- Previous experience working on government or large-scale public sector programmes is desirable.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data is desirable.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a major public sector programme in Telford on a hybrid basis, with 2 days per week onsite. This is a 6-month contract at £465 per day inside IR35, and the role is SC clearance eligible. You will join our Data Acquisition Team, helping to ingest, integrate, and transform data from a wide range of sources into a strategic SAS-based platform that supports high-impact programmes across HMRC, including Making Tax Digital (MTD), Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA), and risk-based initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale, business-critical data platform supporting major government programmes.
