Data Engineer

Summary

Designs, develops, and maintains ETL pipelines using Talend; builds and manages Oracle SQL/DDL artefacts; contributes to CI/CD pipelines with GitLab. Core technologies: Talend, Oracle, SQL, GitLab.

Requirements:



  • Strong hands-on experience with Talend

  • Solid experience with Oracle databases, with Oracle RDS preferred

  • Strong SQL and data modelling capability

  • Experience working within structured SDLC and testing frameworks

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools, ideally GitLab

  • Experience in enterprise or public sector environments is desirable

  • Must be SC eligible


Responsibilities:



  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Talend

  • Build and manage Oracle SQL and DDL artefacts

  • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitLab

  • Investigate and resolve defects across development and test phases

  • Conduct component testing, including test data creation

  • Support QA, performance testing, and production releases

  • Perform peer reviews of development and testing artefacts

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members

  • Participate in agile ceremonies and cross-team collaboration

We are supporting a large-scale UK Government central government programme within a secure environment. This is a 6-month contract role, inside IR35, with a rate of £540 per day. The role is predominantly remote, with two days per month in Telford, and Worthing is also a possible base location. SC eligibility is required, with BPSS needed to start. We are working within an established ETL and data platform on mission-critical data services.
