Data Engineer
Summary
A data engineer at Westpac Bank builds and maintains data pipelines, ETL processes, and data assets that power the bank's financial crime platforms (NetReveal, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory reporting). Core stack includes SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Python, Kafka, Snowflake, Control-M, and cloud/CI-CD tooling.

The Data Engineeris responsible forensuring the quality, integrity, availability, and reliability of data that supports Westpac's Financial Crime platforms, includingNetReveal. This role enables critical financial crime capabilities such as Transaction Monitoring, Customer Risk Assessment (CRA), Sanctions Screening, regulatory reporting, analytics initiatives, and audit remediation activities.
Working closely with business stakeholders, AML Analytics, Technical Business Analysts, Engineers, and Vendors, the Data Engineer designs, develops,supportsand improves data pipelines, ETL processes, integrations and data assets that underpin financial crime controls and decision-making.

- Knowledge of batch processing and data quality management.
- Experience with data reconciliation and root cause analysis.
- Exposure to incident management and production support.
- Experience working in financial services or complex enterprise data environments.
Essential experience
- Strong SQL skills.

Ideally, you'll also have

- Exposure to regulatory reporting environments.
- Familiarity with NetReveal or similar financial crime solutions.
