A well-established restaurant in Greymouth, New Zealand is hiring two cooks to prepare and cook dishes, check ingredient quality and freshness, maintain hygiene and food-safety standards, and assist with menu planning, costing, and training kitchen staff. Requires 1 year of industry experience or a level 4 qualification.
We are a well-established restaurant based in Greymouth. To enhance our team, we are now looking for 2 Cooks to join our team. We are expecting someone who has a passion for food, attention to details, ability to multi task and be a proactive member of the team.
Ideal candidates should have at least 1 yea r's work experience in the same industry/field, OR have a relevant level 4 qualification or equivalent certificates.
You are required to:
- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Checking ingredients to make sure the quality and freshness
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in various utensils and grillers
- Seasoning, portioning, adding sauces to the dish during/after cooking
- Preparing food to meet client's taste and dietary needs
- Storing and reserving food to the right temperature and facilities
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assisting in planning menus, estimating food and labour costs
- Assisting with training and supervising kitchen staff whenever required
