Description

Scrumconnect Academy for Career Returners

Taken time out of your career? We’d love to hear from you.

At Scrumconnect, we believe a career break is part of your story, not a gap in it. Our paid, one-month Data Engineering Academy is designed for people returning to work. If you complete it successfully, you’ll be interviewed for a data engineering role.

Why Join Us?

  • We invest in you from day one. You’ll be paid for the full month while we train you.

  • We value what you bring. Life and work experience, including time away from work, makes for better teams.

  • You won’t be on your own. You’ll have regular 1:1s with HR, trainers alongside you, and a team to learn with.

  • You’ll meet our leaders. Every week, you’ll spend time with a member of our senior leadership team.

  • Your work will matter. Our teams build digital and data services for the public sector, used by people across the UK.

  • Hours that work. You’ll be in the office from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, which fits around the school day.

About the Academy

Whatever the reason for your break, whether caring, health, family, relocation or something else, you’re welcome here. We’ve designed the academy to help you rebuild your confidence and learn new skills in a supportive, friendly environment.

Data engineers build the pipelines that collect, clean and organise data so organisations can make better decisions. It’s a skill in high demand, and we’ll help you take your first steps into it.

You don’t need to be an expert. We’re looking for curious, motivated people who are keen to learn.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who:

  • Have at least 2 years of technical experience in the field of data and IT.

  • Are career returners, either from maternity or paternity leave, looking to restart their careers after a break.

  • Can assimilate information from sources effectively.

  • Are curious, organised and good with detail.

  • Enjoy solving problems and working with numbers or information.

  • Are willing to learn and work well in a team.

What Happens at the End?

The academy is a one-month paid training programme, not a permanent job. Complete it successfully and you’ll be invited to interview for a data engineering role.

Successful completion is based on your Week 4 assessments, your group project, and your attendance and engagement during the month. We’ll give you feedback along the way so you always know where you stand.

How to Apply

Ready to take the next step? Fill the details and apply by 3 November 2026.

You’re welcome to mention your career break, but you don’t have to explain it.

We want everyone to have a fair chance. If you need any adjustments during the application process or the academy, just let us know.

We look forward to hearing from you.
