About this role
We are looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join our growing team for the Fall 2026 Term. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build scalable and highly available data pipelines using modern tech and tools on one of Canada’s fastest-growing startups. As a Data Engineer, you’ll build highly reliable and scalable ELT pipelines for large datasets (we do over 10 million searches/day). You’ll work on data-intensive applications, ensuring high data quality and uptime, and work directly with analysts on a full-stack data team. You’ll have lots of autonomy to create impact while tackling intricate technical problems.
What you’ll be working on:
Maintaining and improving warehouse governance.
Implement improvements in our platform operations.
Building and maintaining pipelines that ingest large amounts of data from various sources.
Write various styles of automated tests to ensure operational reliability and data integrity.
From time to time create data models for analytical and marketing purposes.
Our Tech
We use a SOA architecture powered by many micro-services, including the bot platform, the NLP engine and the pricing/recommendation engines.
We use a modern data stack of Airflow, Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hightouch, and more.
We built a proprietary event logging platform which processes terabytes of data weekly.
We have a distributed ELT infrastructure hosted using Kubernetes and AWS.
What we’re looking for:
You have at least 6-18 months of Data Engineering or Software Engineering work experience, preferably with exposure to a dynamic, startup environment.
You learn quickly, regardless of the languages and technologies used.
You have experience building scalable data pipelines and powerful reporting tools.
You have experience with building backend applications, primarily working with APIs and databases.
You thrive on decoding complex problems with logical, well-reasoned solutions.
What We Offer:
Home Office Setup Allowance: $300 one-time
Friday UberEats Allowance: $25/week
Learning & Development Allowance: $300/ per term
Fitness/Wellness Allowance: $120/per term
Candidates can be based anywhere in Canada, provided they maintain a minimum 6-hour overlap with the Eastern Time Zone and are available to work a 40-hour work week.
