Summary
Lead a team of data engineers to build and maintain scalable, secure data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, SQL, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
My client is based in Westmeath and is currently recruiting for a Data Engineering Lead to join the team on a permanent basis. The Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading the organisation's data engineering function, combining technical leadership with people management. The role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions while driving engineering standards, platform development, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Engineers, promoting best practices and technical excellence.
- Define engineering standards, governance, and solution design principles across the data platform.
- Oversee the development and optimisation of the Microsoft Fabric environment, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Lead the integration of new data sources and the design of enterprise data models to support reporting and analytics.
- Develop reusable frameworks, monitoring, and controls to improve operational efficiency and data quality.
- Work closely with analytics, reporting, and business teams to deliver trusted, accessible data solutions.
- Provide technical guidance throughout project delivery, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
- Maintain key technical documentation, including architecture, data models, and integration specifications.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, SQL, data warehousing, and systems integration.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern cloud data platforms.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, governance, data quality, and business intelligence concepts.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or similar programming languages.
- Experience leading technical projects and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
