Data Engineering Lead

A hands-on lead role in London owning an organisation's data platform and Snowflake environment: building and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines, improving data quality, governance and security, and shaping the long-term data roadmap with senior leadership while mentoring others.
As Data Engineering Lead, you will own the data platform and Snowflake environment, guiding the organisation’s data strategy and building a scalable data capability. You’ll work with senior technology leaders to shape the long-term data roadmap and influence key decisions across the business. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic ownership, allowing you to define standards, governance and security while delivering measurable improvements in data quality and reliability. It’s a high-impact opportunity to build something meaningful and directly influence senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Own and evolve the organisation’s data platform and Snowflake environment
- Design, build and optimise data pipelines and integrations across multiple systems
- Improve data quality, reliability, performance and monitoring
- Consolidate fragmented data into a scalable, trusted ecosystem
- Define data architecture, governance and security controls
- Collaborate with senior technology leadership to shape the data roadmap
- Work with third-party partners during transition to more in-house data ownership
- Hands-on data engineering experience in modern cloud environments
- Experience with Snowflake and scalable data platforms
- Expertise in data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing
- Understanding of data governance, security and best practices
- Experience mentoring or leading team members
- Comfort operating autonomously as the senior data authority
