Summary
Leadership role at Vanquis Bank in Bradford: you'll lead data engineering teams and own the Snowflake data platform, driving Data Vault 2.0 modelling, engineering controls, cost governance and regulatory compliance while delivering data products with cross-functional partners. Core stack: Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0, Coalesce/dbt, CI/CD.
In this role you will lead data engineering teams and shape the governance, standards and capability of Vanquis’s Snowflake data platform. You’ll drive the Data Vault 2.0 modelling approach, establish engineering controls and cost governance, and ensure resilience and regulatory compliance. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to deliver data products that enable strategic outcomes. The role combines technical authority with inclusive leadership to create high-performing teams and steer the platform’s evolution.

- Strengthen platform controls (data access, masking, classification, environment management)
- Oversee portfolio planning, dependencies, risks and handovers with internal teams and partners
- Champion automation, CI/CD and streamlined engineering practices
- Ensure data platform is governed, resilient, cost-effective and scalable for future needs
- Collaborate with Architecture, Governance, Risk, Security, Operations and third-party delivery teams
- Influence senior stakeholders and drive meaningful outcomes across the organization
- Significant data engineering experience including leadership of engineers or senior contributors
- Deep Snowflake experience at scale (architecture, access controls, operations, cost governance)
- Strong Data Vault 2.0 knowledge with modelling standards ownership
- Experience with Coalesce, dbt or similar metadata-driven transformation tools
- Proven track record in leading, developing and building engineering capability (recruitment, performance, succession)
- Understanding of engineering within regulated or complex environments
- Experience managing multi-team delivery, dependencies and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences
