How You Will Contribute
Data Entry & Claims Preparation
- Independently enters, updates, and maintains information in internal databases and systems with a high degree of accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.
- Reviews and verifies information prior to entry and independently addresses routine discrepancies or missing information using established resources and procedures.
- Prepares completed claims and related materials for mailing by reviewing, collating, sorting, and placing materials in assigned mail bins.
- Independently manages assigned workload while consistently meeting established productivity, accuracy, quality, and timeliness expectations.
Data Quality & Integrity
- Monitors entered information for accuracy and completeness and independently corrects routine data entry errors.
- Researches discrepancies using available systems, resources, and procedures and determines when additional review or escalation is necessary.
- Ensures data is entered and maintained in accordance with established standards, processes, and requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality and consistently follows established data security and privacy requirements.
- Maintains proficient knowledge of departmental systems, data standards, claims processes, procedures, and workflows.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborates with team members and appropriate internal partners to gather, verify, and update information and support timely processing.
- Shares knowledge and provides guidance to colleagues on established data entry procedures, systems, and resources as needed.
- Identifies recurring data issues, workflow challenges, or opportunities to improve efficiency and data quality and communicates observations to appropriate staff.
- Contributes ideas and feedback that support improvements to data entry procedures, documentation, and departmental processes.
- Assists with cross-training and onboarding activities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated data entry or related experience with the ability to independently manage a broad range of standard data entry responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy, organization, and accountability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to effectively use departmental systems and technology.
- Ability to independently apply established data entry, claims, and departmental procedures.
- Ability to research routine discrepancies, determine appropriate next steps, and recognize when escalation is necessary.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated reliability in managing workload, meeting deadlines, and maintaining established performance expectations with limited guidance.
- Ability to consistently meet and maintain established departmental expectations for productivity, accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
Stand-Out From the Crowd Qualifications
- Three or more years of data entry, administrative, claims, health care, health insurance, or related experience.
- Keyboarding proficiency of 55 WPM or greater with at least 97% accuracy.
- 10-key proficiency of 10,000 KPH or greater with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience in a health care or insurance environment.
- Experience with claims processing, data entry, or workflow management systems.
- Familiarity with applicable data privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Physical Aspects of the Job
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Frequent hand and finger use for keyboarding and document handling.
- Visual ability to read information on a computer screen and printed documents.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching during document preparation or filing tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry mail trays, file boxes, or materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Work is typically performed in a standard office environment or hybrid setting, with moderate noise levels and regular use of standard office equipment.
