A Data Governance Analyst defines and enforces policies, standards, and procedures to ensure organizational data is accurate, secure, compliant, and accessible. They collaborate with business units to manage metadata, improve data quality, and mitigate risk. Key duties include monitoring data usage, mapping data lineage, and facilitating governance training.

Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Create, document, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Data Quality & Metadata Management: Profile data to ensure accuracy, create business glossaries, maintain data dictionaries, and map data lineage.
- Metadata Management: Organize, classify, and maintain metadata (technical, operational, business) for databases and systems to ensure data usability.
- Data Governance & Quality: Implement and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata is accurate, compliant with standards, and properly documented
- Compliance & Security: Monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., OSFI, GDPR, CCPA) and internal data security policies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with data stewards, IT, and business units to ensure adoption of data governance practices.
- Issue Resolution: Identify, document, and resolve data governance issues or incidents.
- Metrics & Reporting: Develop
key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure data quality, compliance, and
program effectiveness.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency
in SQL, data profiling tools, data modeling, and experience with data
governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
- Experience: 2 - 5+ years in data
management, analytics, or a related field.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical
problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills to influence
stakeholders.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding
of data quality management, metadata, and regulatory compliance.
