Data Governance Analyst

About the Role

Royal Caribbean Group is looking for a Data Governance Analyst to help strengthen our enterprise data governance program and ensure our data remains trusted, well-documented, and ready to support business decisions, analytics, and AI initiatives.

In this role, you will work closely with business and technology teams to maintain our enterprise data catalog, improve data quality, support data stewardship practices, and help drive responsible data and AI governance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Data Stewardship & Governance

• Coordinate and support data stewardship activities across business and technology teams.

• Manage data owner and data steward assignments, certifications, glossary reviews, and governance workflows.

• Facilitate meetings and discussions related to data ownership, stewardship decisions, metadata standards, and governance approvals.

• Partner with stakeholders to define critical data elements, ownership responsibilities, and governance processes.

• Monitor and report governance KPIs, including data certification status, metadata completeness, issue resolution, and policy compliance.

• Develop and maintain business glossary standards, definitions, business rules, calculation logic, and ownership information.

Data Catalog & Metadata Management

• Maintain and enhance the enterprise data catalog as the trusted source for business and technical data assets.

• Document and manage metadata, including data classifications, business terms, ownership details, data lineage, and usage information.

• Support metadata collection, validation, and quality reviews through system integrations and stakeholder engagement.

• Document data flows and lineage from source systems through reporting, analytics, and downstream data products.

• Create process documentation, business requirements, workflows, and governance-related artifacts.

Data Quality & Reporting

• Collaborate with business and technical teams to define and monitor data quality rules and controls.

• Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, and track remediation efforts.

• Develop SQL queries, reports, and dashboards to support governance reporting, privacy requests, and operational analysis.

• Identify opportunities to improve data governance, metadata quality, and operational processes.

Data & AI Governance

• Support enterprise initiatives related to responsible AI, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Security, IT, and Data Science teams to promote trustworthy and compliant AI practices.

• Assist with the implementation and administration of governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, OneTrust, and Databricks Unity Catalog.

• Document and govern AI use cases, datasets, and supporting audit requirements.

• Support guest data inquiries, privacy requests, and governance-related investigations.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar data-focused role.

• At least 2 years of experience supporting data governance, data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, or related initiatives.

• Experience working with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, analysts, data engineers, and technology teams.

• Strong SQL skills and experience creating reports, dashboards, and data analysis solutions.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with enterprise data governance platforms such as:

  • Similar metadata and governance tools

• Experience with:

  • Data catalogs and metadata management
