Data Governance Lead
Description
About the role
Join the Leading Group in Animal Care!
Grupo IskayPet is born from the union of the Kiwoko ecosystems (physical and online stores, Mundo Belleza grooming salons, and Kivet Veterinary Centers) and Tiendanimal (physical and online stores, Salón de Belleza grooming salons, and Clinicanimal Veterinary Centers) following the acquisition by EMEFIN, a Peruvian family business group with over 80 years of experience in retail. Both ecosystems maintain their own identities while combining capabilities to offer the most complete proposal in pet care.
Today, with a presence in Spain and Portugal, more than 300 workplaces, and 4,000 people, we work to be benchmarks in animal welfare, under our mission: "To care for animals and make life better".
We are currently looking for a person for the position of Data Governance Lead in the Digital area for our Madrid offices.
What you'll do
- You will lead the group's Data Governance project from its start. You will define priorities, organize the work, and ensure that decisions translate into owners, rules, and visible results.
- The most important part of the position will be working with people. You will have to listen to how each company measures, understand why differences exist, and reach agreements that serve the whole without losing sight of the reality of each business.
- Coordinate the data owners of each entity and accompany them so they can exercise their role.
- Agree on common definitions for domains, business concepts, and priority indicators.
- Implement the governance model: responsibilities, decision forums, cadences, and prioritization criteria.
- Ensure that knowledge about the data is documented and is easy to maintain and use.
- Drive quality improvements on the data that have the most impact on the business.
- Channel requests from Internal Audit and ensure that the information delivered is located, explained, and validated.
- Monitor progress and clearly communicate decisions, blockers, and results.
What we're looking for
We are especially interested in what you have already achieved in other environments.
- You have created a Data Governance model from scratch. You have moved from a situation without responsibilities or common criteria to an implemented model, with active owners and decisions that endure over time.
- You have led similar projects in other companies. You haven't just participated in part of the work. You have assumed leadership, aligned business and technology, and accompanied the implementation until the model began to function.
- You have worked in multi-country, multi-brand, or multi-business unit environments. You know how to reach agreements between teams with different realities, systems, and ways of measuring.
- You have worked with management and business areas. You handle senior interlocutors well and are capable of turning a complex conversation into a concrete decision.
- You know the retail sector closely. We will especially value experience in retail, distribution, consumer goods, or groups with several brands, where store, customer, product, sales, and promotion have a central weight.
- You have collaborated with Audit, Finance, or Management Control. You know how to locate and explain a figure, identify its owner, and ensure that a validated version exists.
- Business vision to make the best decisions based on the strategy and objectives set.
- Proactivity, autonomy, and commitment to excellence.
- Ability to provide solutions and collaborate in a team.
- Great capacity to contribute and create new ideas that enrich and strengthen our culture. If you are passionate about working in a diverse and dynamic environment, we want to meet you!
- Proven experience leading or co-leading the implementation of Data Governance from start to finish.
- Ability to structure a new project, prioritize, and move forward with autonomy.
- Ease in negotiating, generating trust, and influencing without depending on a hierarchical relationship.
- Clear communication with business, technical, and executive profiles.
- Practical knowledge of data definition, responsibilities, quality, traceability, and compliance applied to data.
- Result orientation: we want the model to be used, not just documented.
Languages
The ability to work in Spanish, English, and French will be valued. We are not looking for a closed combination, but rather comfort in collaborating with teams from different countries and adapting communication to the interlocutor.
What you'll get
Our value proposition, #HappyIskaylife, brings together initiatives that promote well-being in its 5 dimensions: physical, emotional, social, professional, and financial, with measures such as:
- Flexible start and end times, with a hybrid model (50% remote work) and intensive working days on Fridays and during July and August.
- #petfriendly environment: you can bring your pet to the office!
- Possibility of flexible compensation (restaurant vouchers, childcare, and transport), health insurance for you and your family, and psychological support services.
- We invest in your talent with continuous training and professional development tailored to you.
- Erasmus Program with the opportunity for temporary or permanent relocation to our offices in Málaga, Madrid, or Porto.
And this is only part of it; we have many more initiatives designed to take care of you and accompany you in your day-to-day life.
About the company & team

#QualityCommitment: always seeking excellence in every detail.
#RealConnection: building genuine and meaningful relationships.
#ConstantImprovement: moving towards new challenges.
Skills required
We are looking for a person with real experience setting up Data Governance projects from scratch. Someone capable of converting different business needs into common agreements, clear responsibilities, and a way of working that functions on a day-to-day basis.
The position will have a global scope and will work with all the group's entities, countries, and business areas, as well as Internal Audit and the Data & IA team. You will report to the Data & IA Management of Europets.
What are you going to build?
- A common language for data and the group's main indicators.
- A clear model of owners: who defines each data point, who validates its quality, and who decides when differences exist.
- A way of working shared between companies, countries, and areas, with a monitoring cadence that is maintained over time.
- A point of reference to locate, explain, and validate the information that Internal Audit needs.
- A reliable base for reporting, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence use cases.
