Data Governance Specialist - Transformation Office
Description
【About the Role】
Role Overview: Keep ViewSonic's data platform trustworthy day to day. As the Data Foundation platform grows across regions, this role operates the governance controls that keep it reliable: owning and maintaining the Business Glossary as a platform asset, classifying and tagging data correctly, auditing who has access to what, tracking privacy compliance execution, and monitoring data quality against agreed rules. The standards here are set by the technical team; your job is to make sure they hold in practice, and to raise it early when they don't.
【Key Responsibilities】
1. Business Glossary Maintenance & Ownership:
Own the enterprise Business Glossary as a platform asset — registering and version-controlling agreed term definitions, keeping entries structurally consistent across departments, periodically reviewing for stale or duplicate entries, and ensuring glossary definitions stay aligned with platform metadata.
2. Data Classification & Tagging:
Classify data objects where automated tagging cannot determine classification, following the enterprise classification standard and escalating unclear cases to the technical team. Maintain tag accuracy across the platform and report on data distribution by sensitivity tier.
3. Access & Compliance Auditing:
Run periodic access reviews and RBAC audits on a defined cadence, flagging anomalous or stale access to the technical team. Track privacy compliance execution status (masking, tokenization, retention) and produce quarterly compliance and tag-coverage reports.
4. Data Quality Monitoring:
Monitor data quality against rules defined by the technical team and business owners, track rule violations, produce recurring quality reports, and coordinate remediation to closure with the Data Integration Engineer.
5. Catalog Metadata & Onboarding Governance:
Maintain catalog metadata and naming standards (e.g. Unity Catalog), and run the governance checklist during new data source onboarding (classification confirmation, PII tagging, lineage registration). Keep governance how-to documentation current for data consumers.
