Job Title: Data Migration Specialist

Experience: 4–8 Years (preferred)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Specialist with strong expertise in ETL processes, database migration, data transformation, and report migration. The candidate should have hands-on experience migrating data between SQL-based databases, particularly SQL Server to SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle.

The role involves planning, executing, validating, and optimizing data migration activities while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and minimal business disruption.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Data Migration & ETL

• Design, develop, and execute ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Perform database migrations from SQL Server to SQL Server and MS SQL Server to Oracle.
• Develop data mapping documents, transformation rules, and migration scripts.
• Handle data cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and error management.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across source and target databases.

2. Report Migration

• Migrate existing reports from one reporting platform/database environment to another.
• Analyse existing report logic, SQL queries, stored procedures, and dependencies.
• Modify and optimize reports to ensure compatibility with the target database.
• Validate report output and ensure consistency with the source environment.

3. Database & Technical Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Expertise in SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and indexing.
• Experience in database schema conversion and SQL query optimization.
• Troubleshoot migration issues and performance bottlenecks.

4. Testing & Documentation

• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and migration testing.
• Identify and resolve data discrepancies.
• Prepare migration plans, technical documentation, and status reports.
• Coordinate with business analysts, developers, QA, and database teams.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong SQL and database programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes.
• Experience in SQL Server to SQL Server data migration.
• Experience in Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle database migration.
• Experience in report migration and SQL query conversion.
• Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation, and validation.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with JasperReports / Jaspersoft Studio.
• Experience migrating Jasper reports across database platforms.
• Knowledge of SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or similar ETL tools.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server T-SQL.
• Knowledge of reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, SSRS, or Power BI.
• Experience with database migration automation and performance tuning.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Relevant database or ETL certifications would be an advantage.
