Data Operations Manager
About the Role
As a Data Collection Operations Manager, you’ll own end-to-end delivery of robotics data collection programs—from kickoff through final client acceptance.
You’ll build scalable collection processes, manage large contributor programs, coordinate hardware and logistics, and work directly with robotics and ML teams to turn technical requirements into actionable collection guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivery & Operations
- Own end-to-end delivery of data collection programs across timelines, quality, and diversity targets.
- Build scalable SOPs, collection playbooks, training curricula, scorecards, and tracking systems.
- Monitor daily progress and proactively resolve delivery bottlenecks.
- Translate client QA feedback into contributor guidance and measurable improvements.
Robotics & Technical Operations
- Develop working knowledge of robotics architectures, including VLMs, VLAs, world models, and manipulation policies.
- Translate robotics model requirements into practical data collection specifications.
- Convert camera, sensor, and capture-pipeline requirements into clear contributor instructions.
- Partner with robotics and ML teams as data requirements evolve.
Workforce Management
- Manage a continuous recruitment and onboarding funnel capable of scaling to thousands of participants.
- Work with crowd-work agencies, BPOs, universities, gig platforms, workplace partnerships, and referral networks.
- Design onboarding and training processes focused on quality.
- Monitor contributor metrics including acceptance, fraud, diversity, and hours.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary operational point of contact during active client engagements.
- Provide clear delivery updates to clients and internal leadership.
- Bring frontline feedback into product and roadmap discussions.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations.
Hardware, Logistics & Quality
- Coordinate device procurement, configuration, shipping, and recovery across collection regions.
- Enforce fraud-prevention protocols.
- Drive a quality-first approach to data collection and QA.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data collection, content/data operations, or program management.
- 2+ years managing large-scale contributor or workforce programs.
- Strong operational and project management experience across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Experience translating complex technical specifications into actionable guidance for non-technical teams.
- Experience working in a B2B delivery environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations.
- Ability to manage programs across geographies and aggressive timelines.
Good-to-Have
- Experience with robotics or Physical AI systems.
- Familiarity with perception and control stacks, teleoperation, or simulation.
- Knowledge of VLMs, VLAs, and world models.
- Experience with egocentric video or computer vision datasets.
- Experience with multimodal robotics training data.
- Background in data, AI, robotics delivery, solutions engineering, or technical program management.
