What You'll Be Doing
As a Principal Data Platform Architect, you will:
- Design modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Power BI.
- Define pragmatic architecture patterns that engineering teams can successfully implement.
- Lead platform modernisation and migration initiatives from Synapse, SQL Server and legacy data platforms.
- Design lakehouse, warehouse and semantic model architectures.
- Establish security, governance, metadata, lineage and access control patterns.
- Coach data engineers and technical teams throughout implementation.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects and delivery teams to solve complex data challenges.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance across multiple concurrent engagements.
- Help clients make informed technology decisions by balancing capability, cost and complexity.
- Contribute to Elysium's reusable patterns, accelerators and delivery approaches.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Australian Citizenship and willing to acquire AGSVA security clearances
- Significant experience as a Data Architect, Data Platform Architect, Lead Data Engineer or similar role.
- Recent hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric including:
- OneLake
- Lakehouses
- Warehouses
- Data Factory
- Pipelines
- Notebooks
- Deployment Pipelines
- Workspace and Capacity Management
- Strong understanding of the broader Microsoft data ecosystem including:
- Power BI
- Azure Synapse
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure SQL
- Microsoft Purview
- Entra ID
- Experience delivering data platform migrations and modernisation programs.
- Strong data modelling capability across lakehouse, warehouse and semantic layers.
- Experience implementing governance, security, metadata and lineage as part of platform design.
- Ability to lead engineering teams and guide implementation activities.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS or GCP data platforms.
- Government sector experience.
- AGSVA security clearance or eligibility.
- Microsoft certifications such as DP-600, DP-700 or AZ-305.
