Data Platform DevOPs Engineer (Snowflake)

Job Description:

• Data Platform DevOps Engineer (Snowflake)
• Reports to: Lead Data Engineer
• About the role We are building a new enterprise data platform on Snowflake for a regulated bank, as part of a wider transformation programme.
• We are looking for a hands-on DevOps engineer to own the platform's foundations and delivery pipelines, so the data engineering team can deliver quickly with strong control and auditability.
• Key responsibilities - Define and maintain the Snowflake platform as code, preferably using schemachange, across multiple environments.
• Manage Snowflake databases, schemas, roles and grants, warehouses, resource monitors, service users and integrations.
• Design, build and run CI/CD pipelines for platform and dbt code, including automated testing, environment promotion and approval gates.
• Establish Git standards, release management and controlled hotfix processes.
• Manage secrets, pipeline runners and rollback procedures.
• Essential skills and experience - Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake administration, including role-based access control, warehouses, resource monitors, service users and integrations.
• Proven experience implementing schemachange, or a comparable versioned SQL migration tool, across multiple environments.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Working knowledge of dbt deployment and CI practices.
• Strong SQL, and scripting in Python or Bash.
• A solid understanding of Git workflows and release management.
• Experience working in a regulated or controlled environment where change must be reviewed and auditable.
