Our client is looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to take ownership of the reliability, security and operational maturity of their data platforms. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who has genuinely run and improved production platforms at scale.

About the role
Our client is looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to take ownership of the reliability, security and operational maturity of their data platforms. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who has genuinely run and improved production platforms at scale.
What you'll do
- Take end to end ownership of platform reliability, availability and performance
- Get ahead of issues before they become incidents, and drive down resolution times through proactive monitoring
- Maintain data encryption, access controls and authentication standards
- Design and build monitoring, alerting and automation that measurably improves operational efficiency
- Lead technical input on releases and operational readiness
- Act as the go to expert on the platform, mentoring the wider team and setting technical direction
- Advise on security, licensing, upgrades, backups and disaster recovery
- 5+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering or data platform operations, with direct responsibility for production environments
- A strong track record diagnosing and resolving production incidents
- Experience with Snowflake, SQL Server or similar
- Experience with data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS or Coalesce
- Terraform experience is essential, alongside strong automation and CI/CD skills (Azure DevOps preferred)
- Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or JavaScript
- Agile team experience (Scrum/Kanban)
- The ability to work credibly with both engineers and business stakeholders
