Data Platform Engineer for Global Data Platform Team

Summary

Build and maintain Ascendis Pharma’s cloud data platform, supporting data engineers and analysts with Databricks, dbt, CI/CD, and IaC in a regulated healthcare environment.

We are seeking a passionate Data Platform Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member of the Ascendis Pharma team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, operating, and scaling our enterprise data platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and continuously improve our cloud‑based data platform
  • Support platform users (data engineers, analytics engineers, and data product teams) with onboarding, troubleshooting, and best practices
  • Develop and maintain shared frameworks, templates, and standards (e.g., dbt project structures, CI/CD pipelines, deployment patterns)
  • Contribute to platform documentation, SOPs, and self‑service guidance
  • Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure components including IaC, pipelines, environments, and access control
  • Ensure platform stability, security, and scalability in a regulated environment
  • Act as a trusted technical sparring partner for teams building on the platform

Qualifications and Skills

You hold a relevant academic degree – preferably a master’s degree within technical fields such as Data Engineering or Software Engineering – and have 5‑7 years of experience within Data Engineering and Data Architecture.

  • Solid hands‑on experience with Databricks in a production environment
  • Strong experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, environments)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps including Git, CI/CD, IaC, and environment management
  • Strong understanding of data platform operations and lifecycle management
  • Experience working with documentation and enablement of technical platforms
  • Comfortable supporting and collaborating with multiple development teams
  • Able to balance operational responsibilities with continuous improvement work
  • Experience with software development practices
