Data Platform Engineer (Infrastructure)
Summary
Builds and runs the AWS cloud infrastructure behind Titan OS's smart-TV data platform: Terraform-managed S3/Iceberg lakehouse, Kinesis/Kubernetes event ingestion, Airflow on MWAA, Snowflake, CI/CD, security and observability — treating the platform as a product so data engineers can move fast. Onsite in Barcelona.
Is this you?
Titan Operating System S.L. (Titan OS), the Barcelona-based technology, entertainment, and advertising company, is looking for you!
Our platform combines content discovery and advertising technology in one solution, helping leading TV brands unlock greater value. Titan OS powers devices from major brands including Philips, AOC and JVC, reaching millions of viewers across Europe and LATAM. Titan OS is also powering free premium FAST Channels on selected SONY Android TVs.
Over the last two years, Titan OS has grown revenue 10x and attracted leading investors, including Highland Europe and Mangrove.
At TitanOS, we live by three core values:
- Make things happen - We take ownership, move fast, and deliver impact
- No ego - We collaborate with respect and humility to reach shared goals
- Show genuine passion - We love what we do and never stop learning
Culture and environment are at the heart of our ethos. If the above resonates with you, keep reading because we believe you could be a perfect addition to our incredible team!
Role overview
This is an infrastructure role within our Data team. You won’t be writing analytics queries or building reports. You will build, run and scale the cloud infrastructure that our data platform runs on, and the tooling our data engineers use every day.
Millions of Smart TVs running Titan OS send us a constant stream of events: viewing sessions, launcher interactions, ad impressions, device telemetry and consent signals. On top of that come feeds from our data partners. All of this runs on infrastructure our team owns on AWS and
Snowflake
- Event ingestion (an HTTP collector on Kubernetes, and Kinesis)
- An S3/Iceberg lakehouse with the Glue catalog and AWS Lake Formation
- Glue and EMR for processing
- Airflow on MWAA for orchestration
- Snowflake as our warehouse
Everything is defined in Terraform/Terragrunt and deployed through GitHub Actions. As a Data Platform Engineer, you will treat the data platform as a product. Your job is to make it reliable, secure, automated and cost-efficient, so the data engineers building on it can move fast. You will work closely with our Infrastructure team and alongside senior engineers, taking ownership of parts of the platform and growing your scope as you go
Key responsibilities
- Design, provision and operate the data platform’s AWS infrastructure as code (Terraform/Terragrunt): S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, MWAA, Lake Formation, IAM, KMS and networking
- Own the platform’s CI/CD and developer tooling: GitHub Actions workflows, OIDC-based deployments, package publishing (CodeArtifact), local development environments, and our internal Python SDK/CLI that every data product is built on
- Operate and scale our orchestration (Airflow on MWAA) and ingestion services: upgrades, environment management, capacity, reliability
- Own privacy-critical workflows, including GDPR deletion pipelines, consent data and PII handling, with full auditability and fine-grained access control through AWS Lake Formation
- Manage Snowflake as infrastructure: roles and access control, warehouses, integrations with S3/Iceberg, service accounts and secrets
- Build observability for the platform: monitoring, alerting, logging, lineage and metadata tooling (OpenLineage, OpenMetadata), plus taking part in incident response
- Track and optimise cloud costs across AWS and Snowflake (storage, compute, warehouses, job sizing)
- Apply security best practices: least-privilege IAM, encryption, secrets management and audit trails, in line with our ISMS
- Work with Infrastructure, Backend and the data engineers to improve platform standard and remove friction from their workflows
What makes you a great fit
- 3+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud engineering, ideally supporting data workloads
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, especially IAM, S3, VPC/networking, KMS and Secrets Manager, plus at least some of Glue, EMR, Kinesis, MWAA, or Lake Formation
- Solid experience with Terraform (Terragrunt a plus) and managing infrastructure across multiple environments and accounts
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Good Python skills for automation, tooling and internal libraries; comfortable with Bash
- Experience with containers (Docker) and some exposure to Kubernetes
- Experience running or supporting Apache Airflow (MWAA a plus) or similar orchestrators
- Familiarity with data platform components (Snowflake or another cloud warehouse, Spark, Iceberg/Parquet), mainly from the angle of deploying, securing and operating them
- An operational mindset: monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting and on-call
- Strong communicator and fluent in English
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with AWS Lake Formation, Snowflake administration or other data access governance tools
- Experience with GDPR, consent management (e.g. OneTrust) and PII deletion workflows
- Experience with observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch) and FinOps practices
- Experience with OpenLineage/Marquez or OpenMetadata
- Some exposure to SQL transformation frameworks (SQLMesh or dbt), so you understand what our data engineers need
- Go experience, for working on our event ingestion services
- Experience in AdTech, CTV/OTT or streaming media
- Interest in AI-assisted engineering (LLM tooling, MCP integrations)
This role is a good fit if you enjoy building the platform more than the pipelines on it: infrastructure as code, automation, security and reliability. If you mainly enjoy writing SQL transformations and data models, this probably isn’t the right role.
