Data Platform Engineer
Summary
The Swift Group is hiring a Data Platform Engineer (DevOps) to build, deploy, and operate a large cloud-based computing platform serving the data science community — handling cloud infrastructure, system O&M, security accreditation, and backups. Core stack: AWS, Linux, Python/Bash, Terraform/Ansible, Docker/Kubernetes; US citizens with active TS/SCI + polygraph only.
- Support cloud infrastructure and system administration
- Support system operations and maintenance
- Monitor general system and server health, create solutions where needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues
- Assist with security scans and security accreditation activities
- Perform system account management (managing certificates, system credentials, expiration dates)
- Maintain updated repositories on multiple fabrics
- Manage backup and restore process for core services
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in Linux including scripting (Bash, Python) and service management
- Experience building and deploying applications in AWS (preferred),
- Azure, or Google Compute Environment
- Experience with deployment automation and continuous integration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and version control (Git, GitLab)
- Experience with code repositories and build/development pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, or Nexus)
- Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration (Docker,
- Kubernetes, Mesos, or Marathon)
- Experience working with software development teams under source control project environments
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
- At least 10 years of DevOps / software engineering experience Knowledge of SQL and relational database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, RDS)
- Experience working with Amazon Web Services
- Experience working with distributed databases and streaming technologies, for example, Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Trino
- Knowledge of or experience with data science applications such as Python, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook or NiFi.
