Data Product Manager
Summary
Define and deliver data-driven economic forecasting products, collaborating with economists and engineers to build tools that help clients assess global market trends and impacts.
- Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Oxford Economics' commercial and strategic objectives.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into clear product goals and measurable outcomes.
- Own the product lifecycle, making informed prioritisation decisions based on customer value, business impact, and technical considerations.
- Identify new product opportunities through customer research, market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and industry trends.
- Champion a customer-centric approach by validating ideas through user feedback, experimentation, and data.
- Develop business cases for new products and enhancements, ensuring investment is focused on delivering measurable value.
- Provide thought leadership on how technology, AI, and data can enhance Oxford Economics' products and client experience.
- Define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with design, engineering, and data teams.
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring product priorities are understood and delivered effectively.
- Maintain and prioritise the product backlog, balancing strategic initiatives, customer requests, support issues, and technical improvements.
- Lead product discovery activities to validate assumptions before development begins.
- Monitor product performance using KPIs and customer feedback, iterating to maximise adoption and value.
- Support successful product launches by working with commercial, marketing, and client-facing teams.
- Build a deep understanding of customer workflows, challenges, and opportunities to inform product decisions.
- Partner with Sales, Consulting, and Client Services to ensure products address market needs and support commercial growth.
- Maintain awareness of competitor products, industry developments, and emerging technologies.
- Define and track product success metrics, using insights to guide future investment and roadmap decisions.
- Communicate product strategy, roadmap, and progress clearly to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Foster strong collaboration across business, engineering, design, and data teams.
- Influence stakeholders and build alignment across competing priorities.
- Promote best practices in product management, continuous discovery, and ways of working.
- Support and mentor colleagues where appropriate, helping to develop product management capability across the organisation.

- Background in economics or a closely related field.
- University qualified with over five years of experience in product management, business analysis, or equivalent experience
- Background in building data products
- Previous experience as a Product Owner with advanced experience in Scrum or Agile, with professional qualifications such as Certified Product Manager or Agile Certified Product Manager
- Project management skills to develop schedules for each phase of the development program and monitor progress against targets to ensure objectives are met as work progresses from concept to specification, design, development and launch
- Strong communication skills to liaise with senior management teams to agree strategic development objectives and gain budget approval for projects
- Ability to coordinate the work of different specialists within the development team and ensure that individual members keep the rest of the team informed on progress
- Experience of working closely with QA on acceptance testing, and Product Marketing teams on product launches
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to quickly understand, simplify, internalise, and communicate complex or technical concepts
- Strong user/business/customer-facing qualities
- Economics domain experience or demonstrable interest in economics-related fields
- Ability to define and refine working processes in order to maximise efficiency in constantly evolving environments
- Skilled in understanding customer needs by reviewing research reports, undertaking competitor analysis so product initiatives reflect market needs
- Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies, and an understanding of product management's role in various development methodologies.
- Experience of using and leveraging agile tools (e.g. Azure devops / Jira / Trello)
- Strong analytical thinking that supports clear decisions based on data and evidence.
- Adaptability and comfort working in fast-changing environments
- Technical curiosity with a willingness to understand how products and systems work.
