Job Summary
This six-month contract role serves as the designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) for ALHRS, managing data protection compliance and regulatory requirements to ensure organizational adherence and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks to safeguard personal data
- Monitor and assess organizational compliance with data protection laws (e.g., PDPA, GDPR where applicable) and internal policies
- Conduct and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new or existing processes to identify and mitigate privacy risks
- Advise stakeholders on data protection obligations and best practices to support informed decision-making and compliance
- Oversee data breach management by leading investigations, reporting incidents, and coordinating remediation efforts
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators and authorities on data protection matters to ensure transparent communication
- Design and deliver awareness and training programs to foster a strong data protection and compliance culture across the organization
- Maintain accurate records of processing activities to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Ensure effective data protection governance practices are embedded within organizational processes
- Review vendor and third-party agreements involving personal data to ensure compliance with data protection requirements
Required competencies and certifications
- Around 4 to 5 years’ experience in data privacy, compliance, or governance roles, preferably in data-intensive industries or risk functions
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including PDPA in Singapore
- Experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments and managing data protection frameworks
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage compliance activities and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive compliance initiatives
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proven experience in data protection, compliance, legal, or risk management roles
- Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations (e.g., PDPA in Singapore)
- Experience in conducting DPIAs and managing data protection frameworks
- Professional certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, DPO certification) are an advantage
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Able to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
